What is Framing? (Building the Skeleton!)

Think of framing as creating the "skeleton" of your home. Just like your body needs a strong skeletal system to stand tall, your home needs a rock-solid wood frame to support everything that comes next—from the heavy drywall to your beautiful kitchen cabinets.

During this phase, you will see a flurry of activity on your homesite:

• The Skeleton Rises: Upright pieces of lumber (called studs) are carefully assembled to form the skeleton for your interior and exterior walls. These studs are securely anchored directly to your concrete foundation.
• Wrapping it Up: Next, our crews wrap the exterior walls with heavy-duty sheathing. This acts as a protective skin for the house.
• Becoming Weatherproof: We install the roof decking and flashing (protective metal that redirects water away from critical seams). Finally, we install the roof shingles, exterior doors, and windows. This is the exact moment the structure officially becomes "weatherproof"—shielding the inside from sudden Birmingham downpours!
